August 13th, 2011 Style Inspiration: Brigitte Bardot

Brigitte Bardot was the “Original French Bombshell”, and for good reason. She just oozes sex and style, and she has so much charm and appeal. Bebe, in my eyes, invented the seductive messy hair look; her mass of buttery curls, paired with her fresh, friendly smile, and her abundant curves and legs “as long as the Eiffel Tower” was the most lethal combination. Also, it’s no surprise that her encapsulation of femininity continues to inspire all sorts of girls, women, and designers; especially during Spring seasons, designers incarnate Bardot on the runway, with kitten-esque blondes, abundant in the similar va-va-voom sex appeal that we love about the original.

Bebe is one of those great people who are forever immortalised as one of the world’s biggest style icons of all time. She wore everything, from a fitted double-breasted blazer, to cute printed midi skirts. Both of these trends are currently being relieved, which just proves Bardot’s undying influence. The full skirt says “I’m flirty and fun”, and the jacket says “I’m confident and stylish”. Bardot was all these things, and more. She was, is, and always will be, the embodiment of the 60′s laisez-faire lifestyle. She thoroughly enjoyed the heady existence that typified such a time, and she made up the most of life by enjoying “making films, music, and love in abundance.” She is also one of my favourite epitomes of class. ”She is every man’s idea of the girl he’d like to meet in Paris” said film critic, Ivon Addams.
